Asessment Services
Psychological assessment is not a one-size-fits-all process.
Each person’s history, presentation, and needs are different, so assessment is conducted in stages, with recommendations guided by clinical need.

Important Information:
- Not all clients require all stages of assessment.
- Recommendations are based on clinical need and discussed with you.
- Feed reflect the time and components required for each individual assessment.
- There is no obligation to proceed beyond any stage of the process.

1
Step One: Initial Assessment
The assessment process begins with one or more standard psychology appointments to understand your concerns, history, and mental health needs. Typically, 1-3 intake interviews are required
These sessions focus on:
-
comprehensive assessment
-
developmental and mental health history
-
differential diagnosis
-
formulation and treatment planning
-
determining whether ADHD-specific assessment is indicated
Fees
-
Initial intake appointment (50 minutes): $290
-
Follow-up appointments (50 minutes), if required: $275
These sessions may be eligible for Medicare rebate with a valid Mental Health Treatment Plan.

Step Two:
If a specific diagnostic assessment is recommended, this may involve additional assessment components beyond standard therapy sessions. These are billed privately, as they are not Medicare-rebatable.
A diagnostic assessment (E.g. for ADHD or ASD) may include:
-
ADHD/ASD-focused clinical interviews/observations
-
standardised questionnaires (self-report and/or informant)
-
review of relevant background information
-
diagnostic formulation and differential diagnosis
-
a written diagnostic report
Indicative fees
-
Questionnaires and collateral information: charged per item
-
Diagnostic synthesis and written report: $750–$950, depending on complexity
You will always be advised of expected costs before proceeding.
3
Step Three: Cognitive/Academic Assessment (if required)
In some cases, targeted cognitive testing is recommended to clarify diagnosis, understand learning or attention profiles, or support school or workplace accommodations.
Cognitive assessment is not required for all ADHD/ASD assessments and is discussed in advance where clinically indicated.
Indicative fees
-
Focused cognitive assessment: $1,100–$1,350
-
Comprehensive cognitive assessment: quoted individually
4
Step Four: Feedback & Treatment Planning
Following completion of assessment, a feedback session is often recommended.
This session focuses on:
-
understanding assessment findings
-
psychoeducation
-
discussing strengths and vulnerabilities
-
collaboratively developing a treatment plan and next steps
Where conducted as part of ongoing psychological care, this session may be eligible for Medicare rebate with a valid Mental Health Treatment Plan.
